|The vision of ABS-CBN Foundation is "a better world for our children."|| || In 1989, the ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation, already a communications giant in Asia, made a corporate commitment to the public by establishing the ABS-CBN Foundation, Inc. (AFI) a non-stock, non-profit organization. Initially, the Foundation was asked to produce television programs for charitable and educational purposes. Its chief concerns then were to generate welfare funds by broadcasting the situations of those in dire need of assistance and ensuring the proper allotment and utilization of solicited help. The Foundation was also born out of the moving experiences brought about by two of its public service programs- the Lingkod Bayan portion of the top rating news program- TV Patrol and the daily show Bahay Kalinga. Not content with being a mere broker of resources, the Foundation restructured itself to accommodate a more developmental approach affecting strategic sectors of society, each one with a distinct objective and measurable impact. This all-round development approach became a model for its mission to provide a better quality of life for every Filipino in general and every Filipino child in particular. All development programs for the grassroots level carry a significant slant targeted to directly benefit children.|
| To realize this end, it is our mission to enable Filipino children to achieve their total potential by providing support in education and ensuring their protection towards creating a better quality of life for them. |
An integrated development strategy that promotes the interests of children is in place. It is a strategy that efficiently utilizes the media resources available to educate, inform, propagate good values, instill pride in our heritage and assist in times of crisis, rescue and rehabilitate, among many other things.
